The Inter-School Speech Competition, which will be held on Wednesday, May 18th, from 9:30am to 4:00pm at City of Knowledge, is intended to encourage Muslim students to strengthen their public speaking skills and self-confidence.  All students from 1st grade through 8th grade are welcome to participate.

Update: Registration for the speech competition is now closed. We hope to see you in the audience!

Grade verification: All participants must bring proof of grade to verify the eligibility for the level. Registration desk may disallow or adjust the level at their own discretion, if proof is not provided.

1st-3rd Grade: What it means to be a good Muslim

4th -5th Grade: "Love for your brother what you love for yourself"

6th-8th Grade: Prophet Muhammad SAW as the apex of moral character

Note: Please support your speech with Qur'an or hadith for bonus points.

Rating and Point Distribution:

**6-8th grade participants will receive a score of zero in this category if the speech is read from a document.

Time Allocation: Speeches are expected to last a minimum of 2 minutes and a maximum of 3 minutes. A bell will ring at the beginning of each speech, at the 2.5 minute mark, and at the 3 minute mark. If a speech exceeds 3 minutes, a final bell will ring, indicating a hard stop, at 3.5 minutes. 4 points will be deducted for any speech that exceeds 3 minutes.

Judges: An independent panel of 3 judges with independent scoring. Ratings from the 3 judges will be totaled to determine the positions in each category.

Dress Code: Professional attire. Suit, tie, and formal clothing is preferred.  For sisters, hijab is mandatory to participate in the competition. Come prepared like a public speaker to impress the judges.
