Founded in 1994, City of Knowledge School was established by a group of Muslim families in the community who felt that the public school system did not offer the environment or education they wanted for their children. Since then, we operate as a community–a group of people who live and work together with common goals. In 2001, City of Knowledge received its first WASC Accreditation.
The City of Knowledge School provides a learning environment where:
- All people can develop into intelligent, sensitive, contributing members of society.
- The uniqueness of each individual child is recognized.
- Children are helped to acquire competencies that will develop skills of critical and creative thinking, independent judgment, self-confidence, and responsibility.
- Children are encouraged to reach their maximum potential through the use of strategies and materials that are responsive to their individual needs.
- The need is recognized for individual assessment of children.
- Instructional situations are offered that meet the needs of children with differing learning rates and/or whose primary language is other than English.
- The development of a strong feeling of self-esteem is facilitated.
